'An inner jolt that Carla Fendi of fashion’s most famous sister act calls la spinta (“the thrust” in Italian) has molded the executive’s life and directed the look of her homes for the past five decades. “As soon as something extraordinary—be it a painting, a work of ceramic, or glass—catches my eye,” she says, “there is no escape: The object must be mine.” That impulse has led her to assemble a provocative and deeply sophisticated collection of 20th-century European art and design. So when Fendi, honorary president of the eponymous luxury-goods firm, and her husband, Candido Speroni, moved into an apartment in a Roman palace several years ago, they seized the opportunity to devise the perfect setting for the items that la spinta has brought them.' -  MARELLA CARACCIOLO, ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST
